Turbo-Boost for Enzymes: Optimizing Nature for Industrial Applications

Enzymes have been optimized by evolution over millions of years to work in their natural environment. Thanks to genetic engineering and directed evolution,  however, enzymes can be further improved for use in biotechnological processes. Examples of such improvements are presented here.
