Sustainable Economy; Bio-Economy

The bioeconomy aims to combine economy and ecology for a sustainable economy. As defined by the Federal Government's National Bioeconomy Strategy, the bioeconomy encompasses the production, development and use of biological resources, processes and systems. This serves to provide products, processes and services in all sectors of the economy in a sustainable economic system. Bioeconomic innovations combine biological knowledge with technological solutions and exploit the properties of biogenic raw materials in terms of their recyclability, renewability and adaptability. This results in sustainable solutions that conserve resources and create prosperity at the same time. With this strategy, the Federal government has laid the foundations for strengthening Germany's pioneering role in the bioeconomy and developing the technologies and jobs of tomorrow.
